What type of coverage do you need?

Our Agents at The Weimer Group often hear burning questions from our insureds. Some of the most common ones they receive on the phone or even in person might be helpful to you if you have the same one too. Note: Not all policies provided the same coverage. Contact your Trusted Choice agent for further information and details.

I’m buying a car. Do I have coverage?

You’ll have automatic coverage for a newly acquired car if you already have a similar vehicle on your policy. Automobile insurance covers all your other cars and the new car you buy so long at it is titled to the named insured on your existing policy. This applies whether the car you buy replaces an old car or is an additional vehicle.

However, if you are adding something different (for instance, a motorcycle when you only insure a car), that might not apply.

My child (of driving age) lives with me and has a driver’s license, but he never drives my car. Do I have to add him to my auto policy?

Yes. Emergencies happen, and it’s hard to guarantee that they will never need to drive your car. To help keep you and your family protected, all licensed drivers in your household should have their own policy or be added to yours.

My claim wasn’t covered when my roof sprang a leak. WHY?

This is a hard one to answer to cover all of the details. You should contact your agent at either the Harleysville Office or Perkasie Office to discuss the specifics. However, one thing that is not covered is “routine wear and tear”. For example, if your roof springs a leak simply because it’s old, you can’t expect your policy to kick in like it would for damage caused by a peril such as lightning.

If you do file a valid claim, you’ll be glad to have * Guaranteed Replacement Cost (other terms and conditions may apply). This coverage guarantees that you’ll be able to rebuild your home after a major loss without worrying about depreciation, policy limits or construction costs. Call your Weimer Group Agent at 888-304-6678 to discuss this part of your policy if you have further questions.

Does Erie offer a good student driver discount?

We offer a discount called Youthful Driver Discount that can save eligible licensed drivers age 20 and under up to 20 percent on their car insurance. Plus, drivers under age 21 who complete an accredited driver’s education course may also be eligible for discounts. Check with your Agent to see if your young driver qualifies.

Also if you are looking for extra $avings, consider **ERIE Rate Lock. This policy endorsement freezes your auto premium year after year even if you file a claim. Your rate only changes when you add or remove a vehicle or a driver from your policy or change the location where your car is garaged.

Can you send me a new insurance card?

YES we can! But it’s also good to know that you can print out a card simply by logging onto your account at erieinsurance.com. Erie also has an iPhone App to help you.

*Guaranteed Replacement Cost requires home improvements over $5,000 to be reported within 90 days and may be limited by a Functional Replacement Cost Loss Settlement endorsement. Coverage of costs to comply with laws or ordinances is subject to limits. Depreciation may be deducted until repair or replacement is made. Visit eriesecurehome.com/details or talk to your Weimer Group ERIE Agent for more information.

**DISCLAIMER: ERIE Rate Lock does not guarantee continued insurance coverage. Insured must meet applicable underwriting guidelines. Premium may change if you make a policy change. Patent Pending. Not all companies are licensed or operate in all states. Not all products are offered in all states. Go to erieinsurance.com for company licensure and territory information.
