What type of coverage do you need?

We have all made those New Year's resolutions that only stuck around for the first month, and some years they only lasted the first week! But in the world of auto, home, business, and life insurance there are a few resolutions that everyone should try to keep. We suggest putting a sticky note on your bathroom mirror or making a reminder on your cell phone calendar to motivate yourself to keep these resolutions all the way through to 2017 and beyond!

1. Do Not Text and Drive - Did you know that each day in just the United States alone 9 people are killed in accidents caused by driving distractions like texting and driving? Before you answer that cell phone, look down to reply to a text, or check social media while you're driving, think about your family, other families who are sitting in the car next to you, and the kids on the school bus who are on their way home. Keep your phone away from you while driving, put it on the back seat, and put the ringer on silent.

2. Lock Your Car Door - Whether your car is sitting at home, in a parking lot, or you have just gotten into it, it's important to remember to lock your car door. Cars can be stolen even when the doors are locked, but half of the time we tend to make it easier for burglars and forget to lock the door or roll the windows up all the way.  Do not leave bags or electronics sitting on your seats, these items are very inviting to thieves. Also, we can not stress enough how important it is to lock your car door after you get in. The first step for car safety to take is to park your car in a well lit area and always be aware of your surroundings. Even after taking these precautions, you should still lock your door as soon as you get in the car. Do not put in the key, do not fumble around with your purse or phone, lock your door first!

3. Keep Your Dryer Vent Clean - We know that some of these New Year's Resolutions aren't that exciting, but they can prevent accidents in more ways than one. Keeping your dryer vent clean, clearing out the lint filter, and cleaning up the lint underneath and behind your dryer can help to prevent a house fire. The number one cause of dryer fires is from not cleaning them.

4. Take Action to Prevent Falls at Your Business - The snowy season is upon us, which means wet, messy floors are too! Besides snow, wet floors can occur from spills and dripping water as well. You can prevent customers and employees from falling by placing matts at your front door, in kitchens and other areas that tend to have moisture. Immediately clean up any spill or mess, put up a yellow hazard sign, and have an employee direct others around the wet floor until it gets cleaned.

5. Look Over Your Coverage - When was the last time you sat down to look over your insurance coverage; for home, auto, business, life, and health? Do you have enough coverage if there is a fire, a car accident, a theft, an illness, or worse...a loss? Consider all that you own in your home, think about what bills you pay, how you get to work every day, or the business you run, would you be able to get by with the coverage you currently have? Call The Weimer Group today at 215-257-9171 and talk with us about your coverage, we are happy to answer any questions or concerns.
