National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is held each year, the week before Thanksgiving. When we are thinking about what we are most thankful for, it is a perfect time to think about our neighbors who are less fortunate this time of year.
This week brings awareness to your community and will help promote the national endeavor to end hunger and homelessness.
You may ask, what can I do to help my community, but you don’t know where to start. Volunteers at homeless shelters are always needed. Whether it be serving food or helping to clean buildings, your time is greatly appreciated. Donating money, food, or clothes are also ways to make a difference in your community.
This week, try to find events that are raising money and awareness for hunger and homelessness near you. The link below has a list of events that you can attend to help raise awareness. Help make a difference this Thanksgiving by giving back and helping to end hunger and homelessness.
